Celebrating 9 years of Rocacorba

Today, we're celebrating a special milestone: 9 years of Rocacorba.

Many of you know Rocacorba as one of the most iconic climbs in Girona, but for me, Rocacorba has always been much more than a road leading to a summit. It represents community, friendship, entrepreneurship, and the incredible way cycling can bring people together.

As we celebrate the 9th anniversary of Rocacorba Clothing, I wanted to share a story that many of you may not know.

Long before Rocacorba Clothing became the respected cycling apparel brand it is today, it began with a simple food truck positioned about 1.8 kilometres from the summit of the climb. The truck was run by Maties, a local who grew up on the mountain and whose connection to the area runs far deeper than cycling.

Maties has lived around Rocacorba for many years and has always had a deep appreciation for the mountain, its nature, its traditions, and the unique atmosphere that makes this corner of Catalunya so special. As more cyclists began discovering the climb, he created a place where riders could stop for a coffee, grab a snack, share stories, and enjoy the experience of reaching the summit.

What started as a small food truck soon became part of the identity of the climb itself.

Interestingly, Rocacorba Clothing and Rocacorba Cycling were born at almost exactly the same time.

Shortly after Carl and I launched Rocacorba Cycling, Maties arrived one day ready for a conversation about the name "Rocacorba." From his perspective, he had already begun building something around the mountain. From my perspective, Rocacorba was the climb I rode almost every day and one that had become deeply connected to my life as a cyclist in Girona.

There was a moment where it could easily have become a debate about who had the right to use the name.

Instead, it became something much better.

It became the beginning of a friendship and a collaboration built on a shared love for the mountain and a shared belief that working together would always be more powerful than competing against one another. Looking back, I think it perfectly reflects what makes the Girona cycling community so unique. The Rocacorba name became special not because one person tried to own it, but because many people contributed to building a culture around the mountain.

Over the years, we've watched Rocacorba Clothing evolve from that humble food truck into an internationally recognised cycling apparel brand, while never losing the authenticity and community spirit that made it special in the first place.

Today, as they celebrate their 9th anniversary, I want to congratulate Maties and the entire Rocacorba Clothing team on an incredible journey.

From a coffee truck near the summit to a thriving brand with a loyal following around the world, their story is proof that great things can grow from simple beginnings when they're built with passion, authenticity, and a genuine love for cycling.
