Why sugar isn't the enemy (especially on training days !!)
This week Jenny is making the case for something that tends to get a bad reputation in the health and fitness world - sugar. If you've ever felt guilty reaching for something sweet before or after a hard session, this one is worth reading.
Sugar is simply carbohydrate, and carbohydrate is your body's preferred fuel source during high intensity exercise. When your goal is to train well and feel strong in your workouts, having enough sugar available isn't indulgent - it's essential. The problem is that the wellness world has spent years demonising it, and for active women in particular, that messaging can quietly chip away at both performance and health.
Jenny also digs into why processed foods aren't automatically the enemy either.
When it comes to fuelling intense training, whole foods alone can sometimes be hard to eat in sufficient quantities without causing digestive discomfort.
Strategically using processed foods can be a practical tool, not a compromise. The rest of your diet can still be built around nutrient-rich whole foods. It's not one or the other. It's knowing when each has its place. 🩷
